Current Opportunities

Water Resources Engineer

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Water Resources Engineer.  The successful candidate will be based in our Head Office in Woodbridge.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be contributing to our team with the preparation of the following:

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of stormwater management facilities, storm sewers, culverts, channels and LID measures.

  • Stormwater management reports, functional servicing reports, floodplain studies and other technical reports.

  • Plans for stormwater management ponds, channels as well as erosion and sediment control works.

  • Liaising with other design disciplines on the project team.

  • Comprehensive submissions to review agencies.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering with a specialization in water resources or environmental engineering from an accredited university.

  • 3-yrs to 5-yrs experience and familiar with the regulatory requirements of conservation authorities and municipalities in the Province of Ontario related to water resources engineering.

  • Licenced (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario.

  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software packages including HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, OTTHYMO, and InfoWorks.  A working knowledge of MIKE FLOOD would be considered an asset.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • GIS experience is considered an asset.

  • Must be self-motivated and have a team approach.

  • Strong technical writing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Junior Construction Inspector

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Junior Construction Inspector as part of our team in Ontario East.  The successful candidate will be based in the Peterborough area to inspect our projects in Peterborough, Millbrook, Lindsay, Port Perry and Quinte West areas.

 

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of our construction administrator for Ontario East, you will be responsible for field inspection assignments at various construction site projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspection of municipal infrastructure projects including roads, sewers, watermains and stormwater management facilities.

  • Verify quantities and maintain as built records.

  • Preparing deficiency lists and inspection reports.

  • Attend site meetings and monitor construction schedules.

  • Liaise with contractor, utility companies and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a 3 year college program in a civil engineering technology discipline.

  • Summer or Co-Op work experience in the inspection of sewer, watermain and road works projects.

  • Understanding of contract drawings and specifications;

  • Knowledge of construction inspection practices, construction materials and equipment.

  • Sound problem solving, organizational and record keeping skills.

  • Must be self motivated and have a team approach.

  • Strong computer skills, technical writing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, and use of a reliable personal vehicle for site visits.

Civil Engineering Design Assistant (EIT)

Valdor Engineering Inc. is a well established privately owned consulting firm specializing in civil and water resources engineering.  We provide services to both the private and public sectors.  Our projects include municipal infrastructure, water resources, land development and site development (industrial, commercial, institutional & multi-unit residential).

We are currently seeking candidates for our Woodbridge Office for the position of Civil Engineering Design Assistant being a Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT) who has graduated with a degree in civil engineering from an accredited university to support our growing client base in the area.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be contributing to our team by assisting our engineers in the preparation of the following:

 

  • Developing preliminary designs and prepare functional servicing reports.

  • Detailed engineering designs for storm and sanitary sewers, watermains and roads.

  • Grading designs and modelling of earthworks volumes.

  • Stormwater management reports.

  • Construction cost estimates, specifications and tender documents.

  • Liaising with other design disciplines on the project team.

  • Comprehensive submissions to review agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Must be self motivated and have a team approach.

  • Strong technical writing skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • 2 to 5 years design experience with a civil consulting engineering firm.
